Activities last week of May and beginning of June

Come with us to these activities!

- Monday 28th - We found a new water play ground, and its quite nice, located near Libensky Most. (between holesovice and palmovka). Its a short walk from the tram stop, by the pretty allotments on one of the Liben peninsulas. You just walk there until you get to the other side. You can walk from Palmovka metro stop also. The park is called Thomayerovo Sady. There is a nice pirate ship and some swing things too. Come and play with us at 13.30 o clock! There is a toilet there, picnic tables, and if you need a drink/snack there is a (crappy) sports restaurant nearby. Back up plan if the weather is bad: We will go to the bitcoin cafe near Delnicka and play chess. If you dont have bitcoin, ill donate enough for a coffee for you! There is also a crocodile zoo around the corner that we can check.

- Tuesday 29th - Join us for a Bat tour in Stromovka late at night, see the event HERE. This is in czech, so we are hoping that we can have some translations of what we dont understand, otherwise we will make the best of it. At least we know the word for bats in Czech. Its Netopýři!

More events will be added shortly. Also please come with your ideas and suggestions.

Tip for end of June - go to the Makers faire June 23-24th - more info HERE.

- Forest trip to Cibulka 7th of june. We will walk and play in this beautiful forest in south west Prague!

Creative mini-group:

Do you have kids in the age range of about 5-12? That are interested in serious lego building, arduino, science and chess? Maybe you do this at home? Why not do it together sometimes? Let us know and we will plan something!

Summer nature and adventure group:

Do you want to be part of a group for families that likes to swim, hike, dig for fossiles and other things, go canoeing and on day trips out of prague? Message me and we will arrange something!

#Notbacktoschool but to worldschooling activities!

I have had some time off the blog and arranging activities..having a legitimate excuse. We now have another family member :). Being busy with dealing with the hot weather and trying to spin a breech baby i havent had the mood to do any organised stuff this summer. Also people have had their own plans so there hasnt really been a point.

But now that everyone else is back to school and we are trying to get back to normal in our family we will get back to business again.

Katie has been wonderful and arranged some homeschooling activities so if you want to join any you can message HERE.

For instance, there will be Makersspace on Monday afternoons from 4 pm.

Where kids can come together and make/invent collaborate on projects etc. I love this way of learning and its a big trend in the US right now. There is a ton if info and resources online, but here is a brief intro to what this is. https://www.makerspaces.com/what-is-a-makerspace/ So, the location will be https://americanacademy.cz/en/?ver=2 Its a new school opening this year in Prague 4. For instance there would be wood work stuff and sewing machines.

And Katie has also arranged a kids arts class at Muddum in Prague 7. Thursday Sept. 21st 4-6pm there will be a trial lesson - . Its art for 5 -`10 year olds. Price will be 250 kc.

Further there will be an excursion to the Petrin observoratory and Barrandov film studious later in October.

Apart from what Katie has arranged id like to arrange a weekly climbing group on tuesdays at 2 pm at Boulder bar in Prague 7, its a great place for kids and there are boulders for smaller kids too (id say youngest would probably be 3-4 to enjoy it). Its quite cheap (85 kc) and you can rent climbing shoes there if you want. If you want to join this group send me a message on the message box here.

And some other things id like to do regularly the next few months, is one weekly sports activity at a set time (football in the park, or swimming for instance), a programming and math group, and a weekly nature activity.

Have you got your own suggestions? Let me know!

Join us for Gulliver travels arts workshop in DOX and other things this week!

Wednesday 1030-1200. Learn czech workshop! We havent got a teacher at the moment but we are equipped with books with talking super pens for learning czech and some memory games, I also have resources for learning simple conversations and counting with the help of youtube :)

Thursday 1 pm - Water park play date. Come and play with us! Bring picknick, swimming clothes, water guns and a good mood :)

Friday at 1030 - Workshop at DOX, suitable for kids from about 2/3 to 12.

How did it happen that an airship “landed” on top of the severe and cleanliness of the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art? And why is it named Gulliver? Like one of the most famous figures in utopian literature, you will set out on a diverse exploratory mission. For a while, your world will shrink, other times you will shrink, but on the way you will see everything in an unconventional manner. Once you will engage various senses, then you will see everything around you form a different perspective.

Explore various levels of the DOX Centre, find out why the co-author of the airship received an architectural award in the area of sustainable development, and try out sustainable materials for the final workshop. Together, try to find the limits of fantasy and the fundamental assumption of pluralism, that there are always various and different paths to the right solution. The programme contains various sensory stimuli, movement, and creative activities.

The activities takes about 2 hours. The cost is 300 cz per family regardless of how many children you have. Register by emailing us (on the form on the side here) or sending a facebook message to the Prague worldschooling facebook page

A deposit of 100 czk is needed so that I know how many families will come, you can also send the whole amount to me. Can be done by account, paypal, bitcoin or cash. Last date to register is thursday.

The last time we went to DOX for a homeschooling programme it was pretty awesome. Have a look at the short video I made here!

As always, you need to give notice at least the day before so I know how many are coming to these activities :)
